Default Heat shield?

So I have a 86 electric that I am building. I wanted the newer style body and roof so I went and seen out local cart shop( thanks richards repair in wauseon). So my question is will I need a a heat shield over the resistor coils because the body is now plastic.

There should be a heat shield there. It's supposed to have it. It's still available. Part #1013971. Also, the rear differential appears to be a Kawasaki from what I can tell in the photograph. If that's the case, there's no upgrade needed. The modern 48 volt motors will bolt right up. Lots of people use the 36 Volt motor on a 48 volt system. It behaves like a high speed motor.
