Default 1997 club car electric, runs slow

I replaced all 6 batteries and all battery connecting wires, still didn't speed up cart.I was thinking the v guide controller or the brushes in motor. cart only goes about half speed. not sure how to check v guide. theres about 50 volts at motor but when accerlator is ush all the way the voltage drops to 25v.Im not sure what this means...

Did you get new or used batteries?

It may be wired for half speed in forward. Photos of the battery area would help alone with the fr switch area.

I'm not by cart right now to take a pic,but I'm sure its wires are the same as they were with the old batteries.... how do you check the v glide controller to see if its working right?? I can't afford to put all that replacement gear on this cart.It belongs to a good friend and she delivers the newspaper with it.Pam and I split the cost of the new batteries which was part of the speed problem and I put all new battery cables on hoping that would work, but no it didn't..We could use some know how on how to check that v glide,I have a volt meter. thanks..

The V glide is a go pedal position indicator. It sends an Ω signal to the controller which tells the control how much amperage you want it to allow the motor to draw = how much speed you will get. Note there is a maximum rpm by design. As some people mentioned there is a 1/2 speed option in reverse for this cart. If wired improperly this option could be active in forward or constantly.
First thing to do is to remove the throttle signal wires from the speed control and measure the ohm Ω signal coming from the V glide. The signal wires plug into terminals #2 & 3 on the speed control. Simply remove them from the control and plug the ohm meter into the 2 wire connectors. Now have somebody operate the pedal a few times while you note the upper and lower reaches of the signal. It should read close to 5000 with the pedal up and 0 when all the way down.

Let us know what you find.
