CC Precedent speed question.
So I have a 2007 club car precedent with the original four, 12 V batteries. I plan to replace the batteries within the next couple of weeks as they don't seem to hold much of a charge.
I took the cart out on the road yesterday for the first time since purchasing it this winter to see how far I might get on these bad batteries. What type of top end speed should I expect to get out of this club car? I'm guessing that currently I'm getting maybe 10 mph. Sent from my tractor seat. |

Re: CC Precedent speed question.
Maybe 10 won't cut it, you need a good GPS and measure it speed codes are very specific guessing doesn't work especially when you're close to 8 mph

Re: CC Precedent speed question.
First off top speed depends on what speed code the controller is programmed to:
Speed Code 1 / Commercial Speed = 8 MPH Speed Code 2 / Slow Golf Speed = 13.2 MPH Speed Code 3 / Normal Golf Speed = 14.8 MPH Speed Code 4 / Private Speed Mode = 19.6 MPH |

Thanks guys.
So this speed controller is programmable? Where would I find information on its location and how to change the code? I'm into collecting and restoring old garden tractors so this electric propulsion is new to me. I appreciate your help. Dave Sent from my tractor seat. |

A dealer or repair shop will usually have the programmer and can take you from speed code 1 to 3 easily but even they have to buy SC4 from CC.... Now another cheap option depending on which cart you have is to install a speed magnet on the motor which fools the controller and allows your cart to go much faster. BUT it does not work on all carts so the crew here will ask for the carts serial number to make sure your cart is not an Excel cart |

Thanks for all the great advice guys. I'll see what the CC dealer can do about changing the speed controller when I take it in for the new batteries. Once that's done I'll see if TahoeDawg can help me out.

Re: CC Precedent speed question.
As you can use a 30.00 speed magnet in your motor you can get just as much speed if not perhaps more (?) cheaper with it than you will buying speed code 4 which will set you back at least 100.00 or more...
