Default Madjax digital meter not right

I had a reputable club car dealer install my madjax digital battery meter. He told me to calibrate it by running it until it flashes low almost dead 3 times and it will start showing correct. It is about completely dead at the halfway mark or 1 bar below half. I dont wont to keep running it completely dead until the gage blinks. Im afraid i will kill my batteries. Ive done it 2 times . Is this gage just a waist of $40.

When your batteries get to 50% state of charge, they are dead. The meter should show dead at that point. If no, forget the meter and get one that shows voltage instead of bars. Battery state of charge chart in stickys

If Your charger will start, that will be the best method.

I cannot image anyone would design a meter that "calibrates" by killing the batteries, it makes no sense.

Most of those kind of meters calibrate back to full once they sense a high voltage (>56v) for several minutes. This way they are not affected by Regen current which can briefly get the pack above 60v.

Yeah it started , i think it is starting to move, but i think i found out why gage doesnt read right. I had them put a voltage reducer for all my accessories. I looked at how they wired the gage. The one to the swiched key is right, the one to the battery positive is right, but the ground looks like it is wired to the reducer block where you put your grounds for the accessories, wouldnt thst just show 12volts?

If the negative for that block is not coming off the pack negative, then You likely have a 16v->12v reducer and I would not call those clowns "reputable club car dealer".

Did You buy a 48v to 12v converter?

Yeah they wired in a 48volt to 12 volt converter for all my lights and radio. I think the ground for the madjax is going to it.

The main box is under the center console between the batteries and the negstive block is on the passenger side and the positive block,is on the driver side on the back wall behind the batteries. The positive one has 6 terminals to plug wires and put late model style car fuses

Then it should be fine, most 48v to 12v converters share a common negative between the 48v and the 12v side.

Have you done a full charge since the meter was installed? that is how it should reset itself to full again.

Edit: Just noticed we were posting at the same time.

The negative block should be connected to the pack negative. If it is connected to any other battery then is just a voltage reducer.
