Battery break in
I have 6 new Trojan T875 batteries in my 02 CC and have been trying to get the break in period over with. I charge them as your suppose to and then run them the next day. First day ran about 2 miles or so and then slowed way down. then charged overnight till charger stopped. Ran it and only made it a mile or so. then today about a mile. seems like its going the wrong way, I thought it would be better as it went along. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Battery break in
Something is screwy.... uhmmm, what is the pack voltage read from inside the charge receptacle? Highest voltage you read between any 2 of the 3 prongs.

Re: Battery break in
Do you see a problem here? 48v worth of batteries and the charger is seeing 37v. 2 possibilities =
1. the batteries are strung together incorrectly 2. the charge leads are landed on the wrong batteries. I bet if you did a voltage test on each individual battery you would find one very unhappy battery. |

Re: Battery break in
That could be. When I replaced the batteries I took a snap shot with my phone and put them back just like they were when I got the cart. Batteries had been replaced once before I got it so it could have been wrong. I will check it out hope I haven't damaged any of the new ones.

Re: Battery break in
Checked all cables and connections are good. Had son in law ( electrician and fair Mechanic) help trouble shoot cart. Looks like we are getting power or correct voltage all the way to OBC and then it stops there. Charger putting out 50 + volts hooked up and tested from back side of receptacle. batteries test 45 V now due to not getting charged. Read a post about OBC repair and see where you can switch to smart charger. Really don't know which way to go need advice.

Re: Battery break in
IF You are sure the red wire from the back of the charger receptacle is going to the pack positive battery post (same post connected to solenoid):
You can by-pass the current control circuit of the OBC by running a 10ga wire from the negative of the back of the charger receptacle directly to pack negative. This will allow your batteries to charge, but you need to keep an eye on the voltage and manually unplug it once it gets to 60v. |
