Body wrap or paint?
Curious about what I should do. Has anyone had a chance to install one of the camo wrap kits out there and how did it go? Wondering if it's worth the trouble or just go with paint?
Thanks all |

Re: Body wrap or paint?
Hey there Flying T. The wraps look great. Rattle can pine tree camo is easy too. Check out my WPR Pine Tree Camo. I love Montana when we get to hunt there. We hunt/ camp out in the Blacktail south of Dillon.

Re: Body wrap or paint?
I've never wrapped a golf cart, however, I've worked with vinyl graphics for 25 years. Depending on your long range plans, you should be able to remove the wrap if you decide to change your plans without any damage to the body of the cart. Depending on the material, they vinyl will give you a professional finish if you take your time to install it. There should be some informative videos on youtube that give you an idea what to expect with installation. Here's one example...hope this helps...!!!

Re: Body wrap or paint?
I will be posting new pix soon but I just had mine wrapped. Have a friend with a custom graphics shop and I was asking him what he thought about the kits and the ease or difficulty of installing. I think the vinyl application is fairly forgiving but I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a kit and end up throwing it in the garbage because I messed up the application. He offered to make me any pattern I wanted and even put it on for me for less than what I could buy a precut kit for. It's all finally done and came out great. I went with a digital urban night camo pattern, which is black, white, and grey shades. Blacked out everything else on the cart too and it feel like I got a brand new cart as a result.
You didn't say what kind of cart you have but mine is a precedent. If you paint them you really have to do it right for it to hold up. I have two. One is painted and was done right and the paint is holding up well. The other is now wrapped and clear coated. Will see how long it holds up. But for now it looks great. |

Thanks for the replies guys. When you talk about doing a good paint job what do you suggest...type of paint etc. for it to last?

Re: Body wrap or paint?
There are probably varying opinions on it but it certainly involves more than a spray can. My painted precedent was freshly painted and redone all over when I bought it. When I questioned the painted body, the guy described the process that was followed to paint it and I can't remember the exact steps and materials but it sounded like more than I wanted to deal with. I knew I wanted to do something different for my 06 but I thought I would just replace the body with a new one of a different color since there are quite a few to choose from. But a wrap is a good option as well, especially if you want something like a camo or custom look.

I do Hydrographics. Rattle can paint just doesn't hold up. I'm in the process of painting and dipping mine. All depends on the type of plastic your cart is made out of. Some have to be heat treated for the paint to stick. If it's poly propylene or hdpe which my top is it has to be heat treated. Some time you can get away with adhesion promoter. Same with 4 wheelers. That's why wraps usually start peeling off on 4 wheelers. Here's a cart I painted recently. No dip just paint.
