Default 2014 Club Precedent Front tires 2" out after Installing Lift

Hi Folks,

I've spent 15+ hours and still can't figure this out

I just installed a Madjax 6" A-Arm lift, with 23" tires

I can't figure out how to adjust the Tie rods evenly, so both have same amount of threads on each side

I used a 12mm wrench, and moved the threaded rod off the steering rack and also adjusted the tire rods, without success

Right now the drivers side tire is at 8 threads showing, and looks straight, and the passenger tire in the front is way out , about 2+ inches like I'm turning

I keep adjusting the tie rods and threaded rod the tie rods screw onto to, but I'm afraid I'm lost now how many turns I turned the rods in and out

Should I take the Bellows off, and count the treads on the inner tie rods, get them even then start back out on the outta tie rods ?

The only way I can get the tires straight is not having the same amount of threads on each side

Also the steering wheel has a good amount of play in it. I move it from the 12:00 position to about the 2:30 position, before the tires start to turn

This was like this before I did the lift

The threads being even doesn't necessarily make it aligned. That's just a good starting point. You have two things to deal with - front end alignment and centering the steering wheel (if you care about the second). Look in the stickies for a thread on centering the steering wheel and you will find a post in there from TahoeDawg on aligning as well. Your wheels are aligned when you measure the distance between the front tires behind the hubs and measure again from the same points in front of the hubs and there is 1/8 to 1/4 inch difference between the two, regardless of how many threads are showing on each side. I forget if it should be wider in the front or wider in the back but you will find it in that thread.

Also, I installed a madjax rear seat and found an install video they put on YouTube to go by. I bet there is one on there too for the lift kit and adjustments.

Thanks., I read that thread today. I spent hours today trying to find a thread on how to adjust everything back to center

The threads on the rack I don't understand where to measure to make them equal?

I have 85mm from the outside of the boot to the end of each rack ride. But I don't think that's right, because the rack angle changes this measurement

So what your saying is, It doesn't matter how many threads are showing on each side?

I can get it all aligned perfect and camber set, but I'll end up with 5 threads on the drivers side, and 11 on the passenger

In Madjax video, at 13:55 min just before 14min, they say to adjust the toe in 1/4" to 3/8"

But they also say at 14:34min to make sure you have both adjust equal ?

They say to make sure you have them equal distance so you don't have one toed in and one toed out

Ahhh, willn't let me post a link for 7 days

Guidelines they are not a hard fast rule.... They can not take into account every slight variable in carts; perhaps your cart has a tweak somewhere and that is why you see this thread count difference.... If it is giving you enough trouble load it into a trailer and take it to a small local front-end alignment shop and let them line it up for you....

Thank you for the quick response

I want to learn how to do it, because from what I read, it has to be adjusted periodically.

I'm pretty mechanically inclined , and know I can get this adjusted, but I'm also a perfectionist. The camber was just a hair off about a 1/8th of in inch top to bottom, and I keep jacking it up, adjusting , lower , raise, lower , raise until I got it perfect

I don't want these expensive tire I just installed to wear un-even

your club car looks all most like mine, nice job !

So just to ask one more time, the thread count on each side really doesn't matter?

Because if that's the case, I can get the tires within 3/8th of each other pretty quick

I been spending hours to get the threads equal on each side

Starting point guidelines.... The proof is in how it drives after you are done...

Does not matter! Get the wheels aligned (slight toe in) and the steering wheel straight. No matter where the threads end up.
