so in testing the resistors on the glide do I just need to test from post to post? All but the first 2 resistors gave me a reading. I got a good read on the last one but the first the meter didn't change. Just wanna make sure I'm doing it right. So I can start looking for the resistor.

You can measure on either side of the resistor "wires" if you scrape a clean spot on the wires - as well as post-to-post to ensure the solder/ring connector is integral on each.

Just to be sure - are the values you CAN measure, close to the values shown in the diagram provided by CTD in his first response?

This is what I got so far Joe. The only one close was #38 in the diagram. The rest were way off.

The ones You measured are within tolerance, the correct values should be:

300Ω
390Ω
300Ω
750Ω
1000Ω
2200Ω

The actual values are not that critical as long as the total resistance (from white to purple) is somewhere around 5kΩ.

Radio Shack has resistors like these. Those are 5% tolerance resistors. I wouldn't even worry if all you can find are 10%.

Radio Shack closed more than half of their stores, so if you no longer have one near by, You can order the resistors online (links below).

You you will pay mostly shipping since the resistors are 15 cents each, but Radio Shack probably charges $2 for one in a cardboard package.

300Ω

390Ω

750Ω

1000Ω

2200Ω

You will also need some non-insulated ring terminals to crimp on each end of the resistor.

Google or Yellow Page for any local "Electronics Supply" store - components are essentially what they do. Those are very inexpensive parts.
