Default Motor swap Question

Hi, Guys
I have a 2000.5 clubcar I lifted. 22inch tires. the stock 3.5 HP motor did fair on the hills. I wanted more speed and torque. I went with a 9.5 HP D&D 170-1-2 motor. Now I have no torque at all. I bought from redhawk. their site said I did not need a new controller. I believe now that I do. Redhawk tells me this motor should not be used on a lifted cart ( after I bought it). I checked D&D motors web site and it suggest it will be fine they sell it as their economy hunting buggy motor which is what I am using it for.
I just need some input from YA'LL
Thanks

if you went to a high speed motor and your gonna use the buggy on hills or inclines than your gonna have to upgrade to a bigger controller..........you can get away without one if your just driving flatland but other than that yes you have to upgrade controllers.......one of those people should have told you that.......now once you upgrade controllers with the motor already done your gonna want to upgrade cables............all 6 gage cables to 4 gage or even 2 gage but whatever you decide you must do all cables not just battery cables..................................
