Batteries drain fast

I'm working on a utility cart its 48 v. They say the batteries loose power after about 20min. I test the pack last night. Its 50.2 v across the pack and each battery was 6.4 v. I jacked it up and pushed the throttle and it takes off normal and then looses speed and there is also a squeaking sound coming from the motor. if I let off and push it again it does the same thing. I'm sure I've jacked up other electric carts and they never did this. Any ideas ?

Is it 6 v batteries or 8 v batteries? How old are the batteries?

their 6 volt the date I haven't checked yet.

So it runs fine for 20 minutes then just suddenly drops off or is it a gradual thing? If you stop then take off again does it go normally or is it still slow like loosing power?

Sounds like tired batteries to me.

I'm just going by what I was told so I think ill drive it tonight and see what its doing.

This cart has 8 - 6 volt batteries in it?

it has 8 6 volts batteries. I did find 6 cells below the plates 1 on two and 2 on two batteries. I add distilled water to above the plates on those that were low. I had to install a rear seat on another one tonight so I didn't get to run it yet to see how long it lasts. The batteries are stamped 02 or D2 I think its a D the cart is a QT0750-848414 is it a 2007

So I had it totally charged over night and check voltage it was 52v I went for a drive last night for about 8 min. at full speed there were some smaller grades where it lost a little speed which I would say was normal came back measured voltage it was 51v and there was no heat to the touch on the controller. I did space the controller out about 5/8 of an inch from the mounting plate so air could get around it for more cooling.

That mounting plate is a Heat Sink it is designed to Draw the heat from the controller and dissipate it, you will end up burning up the controller without it, think of a CPU in a computer and the big heat sinks they use.
