Default 48v DS Vibrates When First Start Driving

Hi, I am new to golf carts. I have a chance to get what I think is a good deal on an electric DS1996 Club Car. The current owner has told me that the batteries need replaced. With that in mind, i took it for a short test drive tonight, and its got a vibration while under power. Meaning that when I accelerate i feel a vibration. Once I let off of accelerator or the ground speed levels off, the vibration seemed to go away. I checked voltage at batteries, under no load they had 46v. I jacked up the rear end and accelerated, no vibration, but the voltage was at about 45v. I then power braked it to give a load and the battery voltage went down to about 35-36v. I then could see the drive motor vibrating. Any thoughts? Does it sound like its caused by weak or bad batteries. Or is there something else going on? Would love any input, should I purchase or steer clear?

Don't keep loading the motor with low voltage. That will damage the motor. Your batteries are way too low to be driving the cart.

Mr.Golf, Thank you for the quick response. Are you fairly confident in replacement of batteries fixing the vibration. I have only ever driven a few electric carts before and as I remember they just seemed to run out of power, not vibrate. Thoughts? I have not bought this cart yet, if I just need to replace batteries, great.

Get the batteries charged up, then drive it. It should be ok then.

I checked with volt meter before I drove it, it had 46v. Is that too low to drive? the battery guage on cart said full, the low batt. light was not lighted. Only under my load test of power braking did it drop to 35-36v. Sorry for my ignorince.

At the top of this section there is a list of " Stickys ". Read the one about batteries. 46 volts in 48 volt pack is almost dead !!!
