Default Maximum Range using 80% Capacity

If under certain conditions a 48V 2000 DS cart has a 50% SOC range of 20 miles, is there a formula or rule-of-thumb that will predict the expected range, under the same conditions, where 80% of the battery capacity is used?

There is but you should never draw down batteries that low.

Here is a way to estimate your range. First calculate the KwH of your battery pack. Do that by multipling your AH rating by your pack voltage. Here is an example. With a 180 AH battery pack that would give you (180AH X 51V)= 9 KwH rounded off.

Next you need to know the HP of your motor. One HP is equal to 745 watts. A 3.3 stock CC motor would use (3.3HP X 745watts) = 2.5 Kw/hr.(rounded off)

So it would take you 9 divided by 2.5=3.6 hours to completely run your battery to zero SOC. But we all know that you don't want to do that. We all know to stop at 50% SOC. So 3.6 / 2=1.8 hours to get to 50%. So 1.8 times your top speed equal your range.

Here are the disclaimers. The above is for all out pedal to the metal speed using full HP.
While you are accelerating to full speed you are using more KwH. So just as in a car the stop and go driving uses more electricity. So in theory only you should be able to get almost 40 miles out of a battery charge. Just what CC advertises. In an emergency you should be able to get 60 (SOC 25% left) with a stock motor. If you don't consider getting new batteries or higher AH rated batteries
