96 CC 48V Solenoid clicks no movement - Newbie
Hey guys, I know it is a pain if my question is a repeat but i searched alot of posts and didnt quite find a similar problem as mine. I bought a used 96 CC 48 V. When the previous owner parked it approx 1 year ago he said it worked fine. I checked battery voltage when i got it back to m garage and it was down around 40V, i hooked up the battery charger and the batteries took a charge of 12 amps and throughout the day f approx 6 hrs the amperage went down to about 7 amps but never shut off. I turned the charging unit off and unplugged the charge cord from the cart to check voltage and it was sitting at 50.2 volts. I know the ignition switch was taken out and used in another cart and the wires from the switch were spliced together and power was left live on the cart for the 1yr - not certain if that matters - so after a recharge of the batteries and pressing on the pedal I only hear the solenoid clicking. It only has one solenoid with the diode and resistor. i ordered a service manual, be here 7 to 10 days but was hoping someone would have some suggestions on to what i should check or what i should replace thats common to my situation. tx for any help

Welcome to the site
I had one of those carts and it would do that every other day. I never could figure what it was because it was intermittent and then gone. I mean, the cart was gone. I suspected it was in the potentiometer or it's micro switch....the repair manual is the way to go. You will get the proper troubleshooting sequence. Good Luck! |

Check the connections on the diode/resistor closely. My cart did the same thing, I ordered a new solenoid and when I removed the old one a wire crimp on the diode was a little loose... Fixed!!!! Good Luck, Jim
