Default 99 Regen 2 motor/controller upgrade

Remodeling a 1999 48v ds regen 2. I was removing the nut on A2 and part of the terminal broke off. I still haven't tested the motor but after seeing the condition of the terminals I am considering replacing it with a new motor. Since I have a regen 2 system, can I just upgrade the motor or do I have to upgrade the motor and controller?

Or what's your recommendation? I have new stock obc installed currently. Thanks for your help!

Get an IQ wire harness, an MCOR conversion kIt unless it's already got an MCOR on it, and put a good aftermarket IQ controller on it with a good new motor You can build it to do whatever you want it to do. Those old Regen cars are not something I wish to ever have to see again.

He's right (said ol' Joe whose Regen is still running...but recognizing the Regen limitations). If I had to replace my motor (the biggest expense of all); then its a no brainer to get hold of a harness (not costly) an MCOR (not too costly) and an IQ controller (can be shopped-around for), and convert the whole kit & kaboodle to IQ...and cruise around at +20 mph.

You'll never look back - unless going in reverse of course.

Or, you could sent that motor to plumb quick.

I can help you there because I did the same thing and I have a 99 too. I just had my motor rebuilt by Plum Quick and everything else is stock. Two years now and no issues. I did upgrade to 4ga cables everywhere and I think it was a wise choice.

There are many things you can do. It's just how much you want to spend.

Thanks for everyone's input. Like scottyb said though, those are all great options but I'm still stuck at which one too do.

How much work is actually involved in converting my regen over to a IQ. Primary use of this will be driving around the streets of my hometown. 12" rims and varying passengers from 2-4

How is your speed with the new plum quick? You kept stock controller?

Can you post a link of the mcor conversion I would need?

I would go IQ. You need
a motor
Controller
Solenoid
some serious re-wiring (not sure if a harness is going to be much help)
You could likely find a stock IQ motor $100
XCT control and solenoid $529 (works good with any throttle signal)
Wiring - T&M

The point is you need a complete drive system and that is not going to be a cheap fix. You might just want to trade this cart in on a better drive system that would be simpler to upgrade... not that this is so hard but, it's probably not a 1st cart project. Hope this helps
Conflicting opinions welcome
