Disc Brake Help / Bleeding Question
Hoping to get some advice / tips on bleeding front calipers on a Jakes disc brake kit. Have been trying to bleed system and thought we had it once and then lost it. Pedal goes to the floor and very little fluid comes out when opening bleeder. When depressing brake pedal plunger travel at master cylinder seems ok. Have bled them off and on the cart with no luck.
Anybody that has had success doing this hopefully can chime in and offer up some tips. It's only logical there is air in this system, just having a hard time getting it back out. Thank you in advance - |

Re: Disc Brake Help / Bleeding Question
This has been an issue with that small cylinder and short stroke. Take a small hand-operated vacuum pump and attach it to one caliper at a time. Usually takes 2 people, but while one continually fills reservoir, the other "pulls" fluid through the line with the pump. Then move pump to other caliper and do it again. Go slow, and don't allow air into the reservoir.

Re: Disc Brake Help / Bleeding Question
Use a oil sqirt can, plastic hose to the wheel cylinder fill until you get fluid to master cylinder from each wheel. Works great.

Re: Disc Brake Help / Bleeding Question
Ok thanks everybody - actually went to pick up a vacuum pump and found an economical brake bleeder/ vacuum pump combo at Harbor Frieght. Worked like a dream - thanks again for the help.
