Speed sensor keeps going out -
Have a 2002 Club Car DS golf cart that keeps blowing speed sensors. Replaced it for the third time about a month ago and it went out again. Is their any reason they could be failing?

Biggest reason is made in China. Check yours.

It would be more likely that you're putting too high for voltage across the speed sensor which would mean either the controller is bad or the diode is missing on the solenoid

Re: Speed sensor keeps going out -
The OEM solenoid on this cart had a built-in diode. If the solenoid is been replaced with an aftermarket unit someone may have forgotten to add the diode.

Where are you buying them? What are the wire colors? Red, Green, and Black is what you want. Red, Blue, and Black is made in China and is probably your problem.

Re: Speed sensor keeps going out -
I think I'm also the victim of cheap speed sensors. Purchased January 2015 and yes, it has the red,BLUE, black wires. Ordering a real one today but one question:
Can this be intermittent? We went into limp mode last week, got mad and just plugged it in the charger. Came back a day later and all is normal. Four days later it goes into limp mode again, I did the roll-away test and sure enough, no buzzer or light. Plugged it in to charge. I had to move it this morning and took a quick drive just for kicks. All is normal again. 2006 Precedent, #PQ0604, Plum Quick Bandit, normally gets 22mph on flats. |

Re: Speed sensor keeps going out -
Yes it can definitely be intermittent. Especially with a cheap sensor. This should fix you right up. Thanks for your order.
