Quick question on---clunk

My 2002 cc has developed recently,what i would call; access gear lash.BUT knowing theres no U- joints in these carts. I changed rear gear lube a short time ago . but haven' t
heard any noise afterwards....month or so ago. If you goose it a little ,back and forth- it has developed this sound . No prior problems ,and if its serious i need ideas from this proffesional group of golf cart owners .i am hoping .On my way to my Dr. in next town. So i will be watching for any help,this day, you can send my way . I was concerned when i heard this. It does this when you tend to jerk the cart a little back and forth.while rolling. Sounds exactly like a u-joint.---On my floor-jack.---- when you roll tires back and forth quickly. you hear this on the right side. It isn't a loose lugnut or wheel. Checked that. What is my next move thanks bob s

I had a few problems before .but my cc is better than it ever was... NOW. So i still need a bit of help on this clunk. Not the same thing Greg --by along shot.Anyone else ?? thank you bob s

Check the U-bolts that hold the rear axle to the leaf springs. I had mine get loose for some reason and made a nice clunk noise anytime I hit the pedal from a dead stop.

Well mine u-bolts were loose.tightened them up both sides . The clunk is abit louder than it was. Is there a noise like this, in the brake slides? Or would heavier weight grease [oil]...from 30 weight to .say 90 weight auto rear gears take this. Its a small rear end for the size clunk i get in forward or reverse, any ideas . lukas oil additive. I use some of this in most every set of gears in my yard . comments bob s.

I would take a look at the spring bushings next. I don't really need to tell an old motor-head like you how they dry out, crack and loose chunks.

Right on the motor head ..I will check them out fri morning I pulled a Vette up a slight hill and the rear wheels started spinning A little . I think that maybe when this clunk began.Is it hard to take the rear gear apart?" if i need to. I couldn't find a schematic, of an exploded view, to take a look at in the stickeys. .any ideas on this ?/ bob s
noise sounds like its coming from the rear end- center section . while i am laying next to it . and moving the wheels back and forth

I have 30 weight oil as was called for in the rearend.80-90gear lube,would i be ok with this .need to find this clunk, soon. other things piling up on me.

I would try putting the rear on jack stands and draining the rear end oil. Strain the oil as it comes out to see if any metal comes out and roll the wheels some to try and see if noise continues and to free any debris. Could have possibly sheered a tooth on gears while pulling the car. From what I have read here, 30w oil and 75w gear oil have close to the same viscosity but with different characteristics as each is for a different purpose. I would say use what your calls for or use either as there seems to be debate here as to which is best.
