An error than many newbies and budget shoppers make. I get 'inferior' batteries in my shop all the time. I hate being the one to tell our service customers that they should have made a 'smarter' purchase. Especially in todays economy

I may be buying batteries in the spring, hopefully mine will all crack this winter. When they do, I will replace them with Trojans. And I'm buying 8 of them!

For you quick reply guys please read slowly or twice.

I do not dispute the quality of Trojans but around here 8volts are overpriced to $182.00 a piece. For that money they must be made with gold instead of lead. “Its” isn’t talking about buying junk Sam's Club he's talking about Dekas and from the specs on the battery comparison sticky they are equivalent to Trojans. NO I am not saying Dekas are just as good as or better than Trojans but if you go by the specs I think they are worth the try if the price is several hundred dollars cheaper. Yes I know you get what pay for and after seeing all of the price differences around the country, it would be nice if Trojan had set prices like Apple. It's ridiculous that some areas price gouge for Trojans. There is no quality difference between Trojan batteries in Florida versus Ohio. Sure Florida batteries maybe a little tanner. Maybe they are cheaper because they are made with orange juice? Saving about $100 per battery is worth the 16hour 1minute 1017.43 mile drive to Ft. Pierce, Florida.

tn2tool - That is close to what retail price is suggested for T-875's, although most would NEVER attempt to try charging that much. Surely they can work the price for you? If the price difference was that much, then I would definately suggest finding some US 8 volt batteries (white w/ red tops). They would be a good substitute for overpriced Trojans...

I think the cost difference has alot more to do with proximity to the manufacture and supply /demand than orange juice. As a dealer I would complain or not carry a product that I was not allowed to price according to my costs.
So if you live in Montana you know you are gonna pay alittle more ...
And yes, he can buy what ever he wants and come out okay......When you ask for an opinion be prepared to get one, or in this case 10, that don't agree with you...

Mike... or others... would I be out of line to ask what dealers pay for T-875's and/or what price I should be able to negotiate to with my local dealer?

The price you got from your dealer is than they get for them in Memphis. I don't think there is that big of a mark up on them considering the amount they have to buy to help with freight and haz mat shipping of them.
I doubt the dealer will be very negotiable if your not a good customer and don't buy a lot from them.
