You can't go to the dealer and tell them you saw or read some price online allot cheaper than what he is selling them for and expect him to come down....the dealer won't care. The way he will see it, he has the batteries in stock and you will have to pay upwards of a few hundred dollars just for the shipping for those cheaper batteries. In the end will cost you more than buying locally. The shear weight plus battery acid makes it un-economical to buy or compare prices online IMO.

I'm not a dealer but I know thats how I would handle it. My $0.02

I know a golf course who just replaced all of their batteries (60 carts) with Napa's and since I just bought Trojans in October, does this make the score 60 to 14 Napa's ?

No, it makes the golf coarse purchasing agent an idiot. (You can quote me on that!) Some pencil pusher saw the short term big chunk of change he was gonna save the coarse....didn't think about the long term.

Very true roady89 about the shipping... I just didnt know if it would help me to say to my local dealer... "Hey the suggested retail on these Trojans are ____ and I can get them here for ____. Why are you charging so much more..." but who knows... he may be paying out the nose to get them shipped himself. Maybe I should take the family to Disney Land this spring and throw a set in the CRV on the way home. ;)

Don't think I would be putting in batteries inside my ride. Don't forget about your cores, thats another $10-12 a battery that most of the time is already reduced from the cost of the battery.

Let me repeat - The $180.00 figure is around the TROJAN SUGGESTED RETAIL price. No one that I know of sells them for that amount. I would guess that the delaership that quoted that high of price rarely sells them, nor keeps them in stock. Profit on battery sales is VERY LOW - I hate selling batteries. Everyone wants to complain about costs, wants to bargain on price, then wants us to install them for free. Battery pricing has nearly doubled in the past 2 years, core costs have gone from $4.00 each to $25.00 each this past year (now their back down to $15.00), and the cost to profit ratio for keeping them in stock is a hard figure to swallow. No, I will not tell you what my cost is, as pricing is different thoughout the country and to each dealership. Is it fair to know how much batteries cost to a dealership that buys 3 to 4 PALLETS a month, and you only need 6? What I told you is the average price in Dallas for T-875's - $130.00 each (which INCLUDES the core exchange). I like Roady's take - If you are a returning customer, then they might have some loyality to you for your business. If you are a first time customer, then you can ask about pricing, but really hold no ground with an agruement there. Batteries are going to cost you what they cost in your area. If you don't like that, then you may want to look into buying a gas cart...

Not sure, but I think these carts are leased for 4 years and the manufacture replaced 2/3rds of them at their expense because of the issues that they were having after 2 years. This is a very high end golf course that is part of a golf course ownership/management company, I guess the company didn't want to lose the business for the other 8 or 10 courses. I'm surprised that they Manufacture decided to go with something other than Trojans. They had the Batteries dropped shipped to the course and sent 2 guys in to swap them all out along with the cables. It took them a while and really handicapped the course because of the time it took and then the time each cart spent on charge prior to being able to be used.

I would have sure hated to have been assigned that nasty job. I hate batteries on a good day much less changing a whole dang fleet of them.

By the way, where is Georgia are you located?
