Default Napa or Trojan for Price?

Hey all! I just purchased a 96 Club Car Electric 48v for a steal! But alas, all the batteries are dead. (cart has been setting for 8-10 years in barn not run) I'm looking to get a new set of batts and from all the reading on the web, Trojan is the top dog. I can get a set of Trojan T-875's here @ a cost of $133.00 per battery, or I can get a set of NAPA 8148 for $98.00 a piece. There is a little confusion, because from your guys forum on the Golf Cart Battery Comparson post by traderrik the NAPA is said to be manufactured by Exide... I have called 2 NAPA's and they now say that the 8148 is made by Deka. The specs as far as amp/hr matches the Deka GC8V. Bottom line question is if NAPA is selling a 8148 (with same specs as Deka GC8V) for $98.00 a piece would you still spend the extra cash to get the Trojan's? Many Thanks!

I'll not argue with you guys on the trojans... I have a set of 6 in a 85 EZ-GO that run great... but... after further review, NAPA stopped carrying Exide batts last year. They are now supplied by Deka... The T-875 is a 170@20AH batt rated at 295m @ 25 A and 117m @ 56A and weighs 63lbs... The NAPA/Deka (8148/GC8V) is rated 165@20AH... 318m @ 25A, 121m @ 56A and weighs 67lbs. We all know that lead=power and the NAPA/Deka is 4 pounds heavier, plus is rated to run longer at certain current drains. I always bought Nike shoes cause I thought they were the best... Now I buy other brands cause they make just as good a shoe for less. The one thing that I have not seen for the trojan is the warrenty... the NAPA is 3 months free replacement and 24 months pro rated warrenty... I have looked at trojans sites and have not found the free/prorated replacement warrenty (I have heard 1 year on a lot of sites)... Anyway, has anyone tried the Deka's and had poor preformance?

Trojans - there is no subsitute...

Hey - another angle. How about supporting your local golf cart shop? What has an RV dealership done for you in assistance with your carts? $133.00 is a good price. We sell them for $129.00 in Dallas, TX.

Ever seen Napa Batteries on a new cart from the dealer or manufacture?

Not knocking Napa but as stated all replies above suggest Trojan.

Have Trojans on both toy haulers. We take religious care of them and they pay us back by holding an excellent charge. They are far from new but hold a charge like they are. Wish the rest of our various batteries performed as well.
