Re: stainless steel washers
I have tried with and without, back to back, I observed no change in current flow or temperature of the connections. I used the Alltrax data logging for current measurements and an infrared thermometer for temperature.
I would say anything that doesn't impede the current flow and prevents the nuts from coming loose is a good thing. |

Re: stainless steel washers
CTD, it's not uncommon to use lock washers in marine battery applications,
so I see no reason not to use them on golf carts. Muddog |

Re: stainless steel washers
All of the SW202 contactors I have purchased have lock washers on them, so it can't be that bad.

Re: stainless steel washers
The key to using lock washers is the correct amount of tightness to compress the lock-washer flat and secure. Because of the design of the battery post on a golf cart battery this can be accomplished using the "inch" pound spec given...however...most of us do not have an inch pound torque wrench so that becomes an issue.

Re: stainless steel washers
Food for thought on Battery Terminal cables, nuts to use and torque settings in regards to Trojan Batteries. Note that they do not recommend any washers including lock washers, just standard hex nuts or half thickness lock nuts if in high vibration applications.

Re: stainless steel washers
If you are using the stainless bolts/nuts make sure that you put some anti-sieze on them. They will gall and get locked up just looking at them.
