Controller question on AQ03 club car
Working on a 2003 club car. its an AQ so ds 48 volts...Has been running fine but all of a sudden now it goes normal in reverse but nothing in forward.
The micro switch at the foot peddle is clicking but the solenoid is not clicking in forward....I switched the two smaller motor wires that go to the controller (blue and orange) and now it goes in forward but no reverse and again no clicking of the solenoid in reverse. Can I safely assume the controller is bad or is there something else it could be... Thanks..Bill PS the controller is a Curtis 1510A-5251 |

Re: Controller question on AQ03 club car
I'd check the forward/reverse microswitch first.

Re: Controller question on AQ03 club car
This is an IQ cart so I believe the Neg. side of the solenoid activation is provided by the control. Check the small posts on the solenoid with your meter. You should have a + side and - side when the gas is pressed, key on, cart in gear. See if you can find which side is missing so we know why the solenoid only activates in one direction.

Re: Controller question on AQ03 club car
ScottyB, you had me to do that on a solenoid a couple years back and for the life of me I cant remember how to do it...I do have the kind of meter that does show negative and positive. I tried with the black lead to a ground and to pack negative with red going to both little post and didn't see a change - or +....also tried both leads to little post both ways with nothing....
Im getting old and its hot as hell down here on topsail beach, NC.... Thanks my friend... Bill 112 heat index today.... |

Re: Controller question on AQ03 club car
Sorry you are getting so much heat already - sounds like you are in for a hot summer.
The solenoid requires one + and one - at the small terminals to make it close when you press the gas. To test for the + side put one meter lead on the battery pack main -. You will get a 48v reading when the signal is present. To test for the - side put a test lead on battery main + and look for 48v when - is present. |

Re: Controller question on AQ03 club car
Pop the F&R switch out of the switch box and unplug all three wires from it. If you install a jumper between orange and blue you'll get reverse. If you install a jumper between orange and brown you'll get forward. If it works in forward with the jumper in place, replace the F&R switch. Part number 101856002

Re: Controller question on AQ03 club car
Update....Sorry I forgot to update....Ended up being a wire going to the F/R switch...the wire looked fine, no sign of being broke....It showed continuity but wasn't enough wire to send pack voltage...replaced wire and all is good....Thanks all
