Swapping the drums is done for clearance and fit - NOT to avoid buying cables. We have done it many times. It all depends on what model / brand / modification.

Mike, I didn't say anything about avoiding buying cables. I need the clearance (see my last post)

Mike,
Have you done it on a club car and does the auto adjustment still work?
Are the brakes still as effective now that the rotation is reversed?

After skimming thru the m&s manual it appears that its rather simple. Remove axle retaining ring unbolt it and swap it.
Is it really this simple.

It will work on a EZGO but is not as easy, some fab work has to be done. Also, to remove the axles, you do not have to go into the differential as someone posted above. 1 c clip and pull them out.

it does seem from the manual that the axles do come out with just a snap ring in the end of the tube. WARNING--only take one axle out at a time because of the spider gears in the transaxle. Do not turn anything when pulling axle out. Just go straight out and in, and DO NOT turn the other axle when you have the other side out. Its not bad, just do systematically and carefully. Remove axle, remove backing plate, reinstall axle(no snap ring)...then go to other side ....you see the routine here???
