Default Precedent f/r switch keeps failing....need guidance

Purchased used Precedent that worked fine for several months then suddenly wouldn't go forward while driving around one day. had to reverse all the way back home. replaced the f/r switch and ran fine a few trips around our acreage then stopped going forward again. so replaced f/r switch one last time (ordered two initially) and forward stopped again on first trip out. 2 clicks from solenoid when pedal pressed and reverse works fine. not sure what other info to include other than 48v, sepex IQ....cart was lifted by prior owner but unsure if stock controller was upgraded. starting with least costly options first...what should I test/ look for in troubleshooting what is wrong?

Still may be the switch. Switch wires on switch, if it goes forward and not rev. Switch is bad again.

The stock switch is pretty good quality and not prone to excessive failure. While not very likely, it's not to say you didn't get a bad batch. I would suggest using the switch on a simple light circuit and testing the functions. I think you may find that your issue is something else altogether.

If it failed why not jumper the two wires which create "forward" together (Tahoe knows what colors they are) and try it. That should confirm or eliminate the switch. May also be loose connectors or lack of continuity in those wires.

The wires are Blue Orange Brown. Blue is forward, Brown is reverse.

Jumping the 2 wires together did allow us to go forward. Does this mean it is the switch that is the issue? With 3 blown switches already, is some other malfunction causing them to blow? The switches were from different batches. Purchased one on amazon and one local.

Since jumping the wires worked - it is likely the switch (again), and no...that's not a common failure. Is it possible the spade connections to the switch aren't making good/tight contact - making the switch "appear" to have failed? Also, you aren't pressure washing around that switch are you? The switch isn't water proof; so forcing water into the rocker switch mechanism can definitely degrade it pretty quickly.

Ok so you eliminated some issues. Did you notice if the jumpers got hot? If you didn't check, then jumper it again and drive it around a little and see if it gets hot. (don't melt the freaking thing though, and I say that from experience) If it's overheating it could be causing electrical failure inside the switch, though I find that highly unlikely.

Sorry for the delays in posting but the cart is at our weekend property so it takes a while to circle back. I really appreciate everyone's assistance.

We fused wires together again and no they did not get hot after driving around. I would assume that means we dont have a surge of some kind coming from another place? I will try another switch and see if it lasts. I know my husband has washed the cart a few times so maybe it was a water issue?

The switch is not water proof. Most likely will fail to work with water in it. Try a dry one. One of the old ones you have taken out may be dry now.
