Towed in Run mode!
Not my cart, but my buddy's and I'm trying to help him out. His cart died and someone towed it for a mile or so behind a truck (so maybe 10-15mph) and didn't know to put it in tow mode first. Soooo, the obvious first - batts 3 and 6 have melted posts (just like the ones in Crash Test Dummy's thread). It looks like the entire post just melted down in the battery itself. Not sure if that happened before, during or after the tow. Could the tow have melted those posts like that?? After reading crash's thread and watching his video, I'm thinking that may be a really good start.
Secondly and most importantly; the unknowns; the what we can't see stuff - could the controller or anything else been damaged during the tow?? Cart is an early 2000 model DS by the way. Any input greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

Re: Towed in Run mode!
The short answer...yes. I unfortunately see this often. Towing in run backfeeds through the system and can damage the controller and also can cause motor windings to be damaged. Best to take to a dealership for confirmation...buying these parts can get expensive, and if you replace the controller and the motor is damaged, you may blow the new controller and be out whatever you paid. Wish I had better advice but I would seek a pro on this issue that can physically test the cart.

Ya, probably not a bad idea at all and worth the money to at least get a proper diagnosis before tearing it apart and wasting $$ like you said!
