Default How to speed up Club Car PRECEDENT I2 EXCEL

So after determining that my newly purchased club car is a PRECEDENT I2 EXCEL via PH serial number there really doesn't seem to be many options for increasing the speed easily. I was hoping on using the Code 5 programmer or at least the speed magnet. But both don't appear to work on the PRECEDENT I2 EXCEL? What other options are there that won't break the bank and are easy installs?

Send the motor to Plumb Quick, let them rebuild it, $225 I think is the cost, I've read a lot of people are extremely happy with theirs.

I'm one of them... have the PH motor in my IQ cart... speeds for Excel carts should be over 25 MPH.

Thanks guys. I was looking into that. What's the turnaround on getting a motor redone? Wondering if I should wait till winter. Seems like the best and only option. Though I don't see why there isn't a way to change things to speed code 4.

I was at Plum Quicks shop today. They have pretty good turn around times. They have always been a real help to me

Thanks! Motor difficult to pull? I have the back seat on mine and I'm guess I have to take all that off? I did see a back hatch that accesses the motor.

You can access through that panel or I found it easy enough to jack the cart up put on stands and remove it from underneath, you have to get under there at some point anyways.

You can change it to speed code 4. It requires the use of a handheld programmer and the three 3 digit codes that have to be input to enable it. (the three 3 digit numbers look like this: 111 222 333) Once they are input the programmer offers option speed code 4. Most dealers can do this, and it usually runs about $100-$150. I install it on all my Excel carts. I use the magnet on the older IQ drive models. Speed code 4 is a pretty big letdown though, it only offers another 2 mph to the top end roughly.

I have an Excel cart as well and am looking for a bit more top end too. Why do the speed magnets not work on Excel carts?
