Did you any Form-a-Gasket between the motor and housing?

Is this necessary/suggested? I just replaced my motor and am wondering the same thing.. There is a wee bit of a difference between the OD of the motor and the OD of the transaxle case.
The new motor does away with the mounting ring that uses the 4th hole/bolt/tab(5/16ths I believe) that the old motor used. Anything that would keep water outta there certainly wouldn't hurt.
Not tying to hijack here.

I seen it listed in the parts manual (liquid gasket) is the reason I asked. I don't know the answer.

Have never in 15 years used it or done that...and actually never took a motor off that had that between it that I'm aware of/noticed. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, just saying at this dealership (Yamaha), I've never been instructed by Yamaha to do this.
