Question lubricant on motor to gearbox????????

i am putting daves centering kit in my cc. I think somebody here mentioned....to grease up the splined shaft, and the receiver shaft,before reinstall of the motor. Whats the right lube for this coupling.I have spray teflon ?????kinda runny . ideas thanks bob s

Not sure what everyone else uses...but Yamaha sent me a box of this to use for every electric motor I repair/replace. Most yamaha dealerships will have this available.

Someone used a light coat of anti-seize on the splines to make it easier to get off next time.

I had a mechanic friend recommend silicone grease. I think a anti-seizing compound would suit as well.

camaroluv, is the grease you used clear or dark? Just wondering as the silicone grease I've used is clear/opaque.

my cc is 2002,When i got it apart, there was no rust whatsoever in the splines jus older grease . Yamaha spline grease .think i have A dirt bike shop close by. bob s

Very dark...charcoal metallic I would call it! I should also add that it is a silicone-based grease :)

Does it come in a large amount, as i won't use it for anything else . How bout some wheel bearing grease [auto}

I have spray teflon ..wax base....like they use on motorcycle chains, it doesn't collect dirt and water as such???????

On mine I ended up wiping a coat of the anti-seize and topping with a little silicone grease. The anti-seize bonds really well so it may have been sufficient by itself.
