Re: lubricant on motor to gearbox????????
Not sure what everyone else uses...but Yamaha sent me a box of this to use for every electric motor I repair/replace. Most yamaha dealerships will have this available.

Re: lubricant on motor to gearbox????????
Someone used a light coat of anti-seize on the splines to make it easier to get off next time.

Re: lubricant on motor to gearbox????????
I had a mechanic friend recommend silicone grease. I think a anti-seizing compound would suit as well.
camaroluv, is the grease you used clear or dark? Just wondering as the silicone grease I've used is clear/opaque. |

Re: lubricant on motor to gearbox????????
Very dark...charcoal metallic I would call it! I should also add that it is a silicone-based grease :)

Re: lubricant on motor to gearbox????????
On mine I ended up wiping a coat of the anti-seize and topping with a little silicone grease. The anti-seize bonds really well so it may have been sufficient by itself.
