Question ID terminals and polarity on 1982 ish Club Car motor. And a lift kit?

Can someone please tell me how which terminals are which from left to right, looking at the motor while still installed?

And can you indicate polarity?

My father is trying to work on his gold cart, but doesn't have reliable access to internet, and i'll be relaying this information.

He'll be putting 12 volts across the motor, and its still attached to the differential.

Ans can anyone tell me (and him) how to make stock wheels work with Jakes lift 6 spindle lift kit?

How much spacer is required? If spacers are needed where's the best supply?

TIA: the Mechanics Daughter.

here is the wiring diagram

stock wheels (8") wont work because they need to be 10" or bigger to clear the rim and lift

My understanding is that he's just testing to make sure the motor will turn before proceeding with any other work. So low voltage a bit safer than running 36 volts intpo a motor of unknown condition.

Thanks for the wiring diagram:

Would you be able to tell me which terminals are which (A2,A1,S1S2) so that Dad can do a quick on frame "bench" test? I can't quite make it out on the diagram.

Sorry to be a pain, but electrical systems are not my strong suit.

ok

motor test

WARNING you don't want to make a big spark anywhere near the battery.

jumper cables may be used
black clip on battery negative,
red clip on motor A1 post, tap the other ends together

motor should be labeled

Apparently the markings are gone. this thing has been poorly stored or something and the markings are no longer visible/rusted.

I think his main concern is reversing the polarity and frying the motor.

Thanks for the new diagram: this one helps too!

Great! Thanks so much.

It appears that part of the problem is "other peoples work"

At bit of clarification on the spacers.

The cart is being built for a friends disabled son. The lift is for the people as siting him in and out, but Dad wanted to keep the centre of gravity low by using the stock 8" wheels and spacing them out for clearance. If this is possible, what would be a recommended spacing and brand?

Thanks again for answering all my questions. This is such an awesome resource.

i would say a Club Car DS 6" A-Arm Lift Kit
you will need 10" tires but it will be worth the investment
