how to tell if you have a "speed" magnet?

So, the speed sensor is bad on our '09 IQ cart. Its pretty much unmodified. on flat ground, it was running 15-16mph on level ground... then it did the failure thing where it wont go but 10. its the speed sensor. but.

is there any way to know if the thing had a non-original magnet?

here's mine.


i'm guessing the "6" means a 6 segment magnet?



anyway. about to order a new speed sensor. thought i'd ask.

If your cart is an IQ, serial number beginning with PQ get an new speed sensor, (if it's bad,) as well as a Speed Magnet and you'll get 20 mph plus.

Check with TahoeDawgZ71, http://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/, who is a sponsor on BGW and will have the parts in stock.

Good catch jjance, not sure if that is or not as well as a possible problem.

Might want to order just the speed magnet first and test it with your current sensor... nothing to lose but 5 minutes of on and off...

Those four smaller circles, wouldn't those be the 4 poles? Stock is 4, high speed is 8 pole I think

looked like molding flash or something to me. did not look at all like a crack.

it is a PQ#... and I was hoping he would chime in. i am looking at his stuff on ebay. which is one reason why i wanted to ask, because the photo on his ebay site looks identical to mine other than the "6".

I believe it i just the opposite. 8 poles is stock.

Yes, that's correct. The less poles it has, the faster it will make the cart go. With less poles, the controller thinks the cart is going slower and will allow it to go faster

That is a crack, hence why the magnet is bad. Had one do the same thing to me and I thought it was just a molding mark, but the magnets do not have those. A new speed sensor, preferably a high speed one from David, will get you rolling.
