Default 2007 Club Car Precedent questions, first cart

All,

Just purchased this 48 volt cart as it was advertised in my local hardware store. It is currently in the shop getting lights placed on it so make it legal for multi use path travel here where I live in Ga. This is my first cart, short roof, 4 passenger, with fairly new batteries/cables. Stock wheels, tires, and will be utilized mostly for travelling back and forth to the grocery store on fairly smooth, but hilly, mult-use paths. Can not imagine more than 400-450 pound loading in the cart most times. On test drive cart seemed to perform well not losing a ton of speed while clmbing hills. The shop where I have the lights being installed is also the same shop that placed the new batteries in the cart, which they validated was in the last 6 months, so I assume I am good on batteries for a couple of years?

My question is if this cart will be utilized mostly for putting around town, what kind of "upgrades" would you recommend. Seems like wheels/tires definitely give carts a lot of quick pop and make them look a lot different. Since the cart will not be driven off road would anyone recommend a small lift with a larger wheel/tire combination? Again just looking for any ideas where folks have been with their carts or maybe some similar experience. Completely new here but gave $2200 for the cart and have a little cash left over in my budget of what I had anticipated spending. Thanks in advance.
Regards

You can upgrade to a 10" tire and wheel combo without a lift kit and if you buy street tires that hold more air and are not as soft as golf tires you will get the most bang for your buck. There is a specific max size in width that you can't exceed so there is no chance or rubbing but I don't have that info at my fingertips. I have used this upgrade on several of these same models of carts and have been pleased with the results.

Thanks Boss. I am assuming this is the common 10" tire/wheel kits I see advertised. Do I need to go with a low profile tire to make this combination work on a stock CC Precedent? If I do, how much more of a rough ride should I expect? Thanks again.

205/50/10 is the size and low profile is what I have used with great success...the ride stays good because the Club Car has a better than average suspension system...in my opinion...be sure to inspect your present tires for any signs of unusual wear that would indicate an alignment problem...wearing on either the inside or outside edges. Wearing in the center is caused by over inflation. Wearing equally on both edges is caused by under inflation. Most 8" golf cart tires run 22lbs cold and most low profile street tires run 32lbs cold.

I am not 100% sure, but I'd assume you are in Peachtree City based on your description of the area. I'm up north in Alpharetta. $2200 is a really good price if it does have new batteries. I'd verify that myself on the batteries though, as there are many shady retailers in the world of carts who will screw you and smile while doing it. If you need help ID'ing the batteries or their dates you can take a pictures of them and I will help you date them. If they are Trojan (which I doubt given the price) they would have a stamp on the battery post that would be a letter and number, like C5. C5 would be March 2015. The letter is the month, the number is the year. Other batteries have stickers that show the date, some are almost impossible to read. Either way, I'd look myself. Battery life isn't really a set time span, though most will say 3-5 years or maybe a tad more. Battery life is based on usage and the amount of chemical reaction that occurs. Heavily used carts (daily) will see shorter time spans of life, while lesser used carts (weekly or less) will see longer lifespans if treated equally well. It being a 2007 means you are using IQ and you can use the high speed magnet to give you a bit more top end speed and eliminate regen braking. It's the most cost effective way to increase speed and only costs about $30. If you want to add some wheels and tires, they make a good way to personalize your cart. The stock sized replacement sets can be had for a decent price, I sell them all the time to folks who get stock carts for about $450.

Thanks all again for the replies. Stang I do live in Tyrone and will be utilizing the paths in PTC. I purchased from an individual, advertised locally at the hardware store. He indicated the batteries were 6 months old. The shop verified the same. I pick it back up on Tuesday after the lights and mirror are added. I will definitely be interested in increasing top end spend if possible, especially if can be done for the price you indicate. If nothing else, just to make my trip into town a little quicker as I have a two mile stretch of multi use path right by my house that other than the first climb of about 1/8 mile the rest is flat and straight. Thanks again!

Thanks again,

I will check tire wear once I get back from the shop as I will want to ensure I have good alignment before putting new rubber on it.

No problem. If you get up this way I have extra parts around all the time. If you decide to lift it I can give you all the guidance you would need....or any other repair or mods I'll make sure you have all the info you need. I can also help you locally source some wheels to save on shipping. Always glad to help the locals!

I did have another question concerning my serial number. It starts at PQ0746. Understanding that this was manufactured in the 46th week of 2007. What is the PQ? I know it is a Precedent Electric and have found on the clubcar website information about what appears to be PH's, just not a PQ? Thanks again.
