charging outside of the club car?

I have just purchased a club car 2001 48 volt system, I have it stored at a cottage and felt I should take out the batteries and store at home and give them an occasional charge without thinking if find they are 8 volt and there are six the connector for the charger says power drive 2 club car three prong connector. 1 plug says positive the other is negative and the third is nothing. Can anyone supply a diagram for hooking up the batteries to this charger. are the batteries in series or two banks of series etc. Thanks in advance I should have take more pictures before I took out the batteries.

If I'm not mistaken your Club Car OBC controls the charger. Without it, the charger will not engage.

I'm hoping your wrong lol cause the batteries are 2 hours away and at least a foot of snow around the cart which is covered up hmmmm will the batteries still be okay in the spring if I keep them in the house on wood planks?

The OBC is what controls the charger. Storing the batteries on wood is a mith, they will not discharge on concrete or any other surface. However, if there is corrosion and other "crap" on top of the batteries it will cause them to drain no matter where you put them.....they will not drain by simply placing them on the ground or concrete.

you need to have them connected to OBC to charger either that or find a way to do 1 at a time with an automobile charger and if you do it like that you must stay there with them as each one charges in case something goes wrong you want to be right there.....you only charge one at a time approx 20 minutes to 1/2 hour each........you would have been better off leaving them hooked up in the cart.......................water under the bridge now................................lol............ ..........................

Thanks for the info so letting them sit in the house will be better for them in the long run then charge them when I return to the cottage in the spring? Again thanks for the info

NOt exactly. Do not leave batteries in a state of discharge for a prolonged period of time or any time for that matter.....
