1997 club car only running on one battery?
Happy Independence Day after !
This is my first cart, four wheelers, jeeps, trucks, yep yep yep Electric carts, not so much. My problem seems to be,one particular battery position, will not charge with intended charger. Cart is a 48v 6x8v now that I am learning about this cart, it seems it is also only running on this one battery"position",move any other battery to same position same prob. When I brought it home I checked fluid levels in all battery's,all were low, just able to see plates uncovered, they took almost two gal. distilled water. All read 8.5-8.49v but one at the right rear. It was almost discharged. I disconnected it and charged to 8.49v re-connected,cart ran strong for 3-4min. then fades other 5 still 8.5v recharged then, changed this battery to opposite side "swapped" same prob. same place, Just hoping you guys may know what's up, may be something simple I can fix without pro serv$$ checked n cleaned all connections. Cart is in great shape and clean. |

Re: 1997 club car only running on one battery?
Welcome to BGW
try to find a used battery with about the same date as your others and replace that one battery. It is pulling the power down to well below 48 volts when you try to run cart. Full charge should be about 50.9 to 51 volts. 48 is very low . |

Make sure that your charging leads are hooked up properly; several times I've read where the charging leads get hooked up in the wrong spot thus leaving one or more battery out of the series....

Re: 1997 club car only running on one battery?
Agreed 100%. First place to check is the cart charge receptacle. Carefully place your DVM probes on each contact and record the pack voltage. This number must match the sum of all single batteries in the pack. If it doesn't, sumfin ain rye.
