Lifted cart SQUEAKS BAD!!!
2001 club car ds with madjax 6" double a-arm lift kit. squeaks all the time. any time a bump is hit it squeaks and i do alot of hunting and can't stand the excessive noise. there is also squeaking coming from the rear leaf spring bushings. i installed new heavy duty leaf springs and new bushing kit with the lift kit and it also squeaks bad.
i have tried spraying with lithium grease and some blaster they help for half a day maybe but the squeak always comes back. water actually helps the best. anytime i cross a creek the noise goes away and wont be back till the next day. |

Re: Lifted cart SQUEAKS BAD!!!
My first thought is that the bushings need to be greased with a good automotive grease. Not a spray but use a grease gun and grease the zerts or grease the bushings by disassembling the leaf springs where the attached to body, as well as the control arms and apply with fingers.

Re: Lifted cart SQUEAKS BAD!!!
Back in the old days we used to cut strips out of an old rubber made container and pry the leafs open and slide a small strip in on the very ends of each leaf. Would last at least a hunting season...by the way...all the noise on a leaf spring is generated at the ends of the leafs.

Re: Lifted cart SQUEAKS BAD!!!
If you grind the ends off to a round edge on the leafs that will stop the noise.

Re: Lifted cart SQUEAKS BAD!!!
I always wipe automotive grease all around the edge of the bushings before I install them. It seems to help a lot. However, mrgolf makes a valid point as well about grinding the leafs. If you did both, it would make a substantial difference.

Re: Lifted cart SQUEAKS BAD!!!
I had the same issue with my Ez-go... Mr Golf is spot on.... grind the rear leafs... and on the front, the neoprene bushings need a good coating of grease. bad thing is, you may need to pull the whole front end apart to grease the right way. my Ez-go now rides silent... for those mornings headed to the tree stand.

Re: Lifted cart SQUEAKS BAD!!!
I had the same lift installed on my cart and started squeaking within the first week. I just sprayed Wd-40 lubricant spray and it fixed it!

Re: Lifted cart SQUEAKS BAD!!!
A member, that at one time worked at a spring shop, said that sharp edges and burrs on the ends are often a result of the stamping process. The edges were to be dressed at a belt or wheel sander but sometimes the guy at that station would just go through the motions and if they came from China they might not even have that station in the process.
