Default Villager 6 slow speed

I have a 2006 Villager 6 passenger cart that started showing signs of a failing speed sensor. I replaced the sensor and magnet at the suggestion of the local dealer and in doing so found the magnet was cracked, so i figured that was it.

I put everything back together and the cart ran fine for about two laps around the neighborhood. Then it felt like it was cutting out and went back to its slow speed. Now the cart won't do more than 2-3 mph...just like before. Before all of this happened the cart would run 20-21 mph. It has resistance when trying to push it while in Run mode.

Any suggestions? Batteries are good and well maintained.

I didn't get a response on this post, so I talked to the club car dealership in town. Of course his programmed response is that they are extremely busy this time of year. I guess since I'm not a long established customer or live in the right part of town, I'm pretty much getting nothing from them.

So far I have changed the speed sensor and I tested the solenoid; which tested out fine. I replaced it anyway since I had one. The cart still has the same problem in that it acts like it is going to go fast, but it immediately slows down.

So what do you folks think, Controller or computer?? I'm running out of possibilities...TIA

I think you got a bad speed sensor. That seems to happen a lot. About once a week on this site we find people have bought and installed speed sensors that last about 30 minutes or so. If I were you I would go through that process again.

There is also a lot of talk about cheap Chinese sensors. Buy the OEM sensor next time.

I've been out of commission for several weeks due to a broken wrist and just got around to installing a second new speed sensor and magnet. This one I purchased from one of the vendors here. It too did not fix the problem. In fact the cart ran worse than it did with the original one.

So I've ruled out speed sensor and solenoid. What next? MCOR or controller?

I know this doesn't sound right, but if in fact the cart does not run as good as it did , you are likely working in the correct area. Check the wires from the speed sensor. Make sure they are not damaged or loose somewhere. Could have a bare spot shorting.

I checked all the wires on the golf cart and they are intact and appear to be in good condition. What I did find is I have ~50 volts across my frame which I discovered when I got a good tingle. I confirmed by checking from my solenoid (+) to just about anything metal. Not sure if this is how it's always been or if it's normal.

It is not unusual to get voltage reading to frame, but I don't know of anyone posting they got a shock.

Make sure nothing is grounded to the frame. Also you said you changed the solenoid, is it a golf cart solenoid for you voltage cart. Some solenoid are build to use frame ground for neg. these are not for electric golf carts.

Yes it is a 48 volt golf cart solenoid.
