Parts to upgrade controller - 1999 Club Car DS
Hello I have a 99 Club Car DS 48v, stock controller, Plum Quick Bandit motor, all 4 gauge cables in it, not lifted, stock tires and wheels.
I got a good deal on a used 500 amp controller, AXE4855, at an auction, but nothing else. I need to know what other parts to get to install it? (heavy duty solenoid, resistor, diode, rectifier, etc.....?) Also a wiring diagram maybe, for these new parts? Thanks for any help!! |

Re: Parts to upgrade controller - 1999 Club Car DS
Welcome to BGW!
Use a 400a solenoid & 470Ω resistor and 3 amp diode along with 2g cables through out the cart and a HD F&R. Wiring should be the same as original. Go to Alltraxinc.com for install diagrams |

Re: Parts to upgrade controller - 1999 Club Car DS
Thanks ScottyB!
Couple more things- When I put the Bandit motor in I melted the stock FNR switch and replaced it with a 36V switch (I read on this forum somewhere those were heavier?) Would this switch considered heavy duty and be sufficient for the 500 amp controller? Also, what would happen if I ran with the 4 gauge wires. I just put them in less than a year ago. Again, this is stock height, stock tires. Thanks!! |

Just wondering if anyone could answer those last couple of questions about the FNR switch and cables? Got the cart in the work shed and would like to know. Thanks.

Re: Parts to upgrade controller - 1999 Club Car DS
Alltrax engineers recommend 2g cable for this control. But in the past we ran 4g without a problem, engineers say we didn't get the full benefit of the control for maybe the first few seconds of high amp draw. THe F&R will be okay.
