If you could post a photo of the wire connections on the F R switch, I believe someone on here can tell you what to do to get it lined out.

To reverse directional travel swap the 2 cables that connect to the swiveling terminals on the center rotating cam. As for loss of movement in one direction only ... it is most likely a F&R failure. Not surprising since your switch looks original.

From the location of the charger receptacle positive wire connection (full pack voltage), Your FNR is not wired correctly.

Use this picture to wire it: 1983 1/2-1987 FNR Wiring

The white wire #5 goes to the solenoid on the passenger side.

You can use this diagram for reference: 1983 1/2 - 1987 wiring diagram

There are 2 connections to positive power on the bottom of the FNR.

The one on the driver side where the charger positive lead is connected to is used for Forward and goes to +36v.

The second connection on the bottom towards the passenger side is used for Reverse. It is connected by the factory to the middle battery so You only have +18v.

You can move that cable to the next battery (towards pack positive) positive post and it will go to +24v, next one +30v.

Some folks put a buss-bar or jumper on the bottom 2 connections of the FNR and a single cable to pack positive and run both forward and reverse at the same speed.
