Suggestions for controller...
Hey everyone new to the golf cart world, i have a 2008 Club car precedent, that I've got looking the way I want now I'm looking to add some more torque and possibly speed. I live in a town where we can ride on the streets, but the hills are killing me. I just put new batteries in it and now am looking for suggestions. Im thinking of putting the 600 amy Madjax Torque controller. Anyone recommend this? and if so would just a 4 Guage battery cable change be enough. I contacted Madjax and they said thats all they recommend, does this sound right? Right now I'm getting 22mph with just a magnet change, cart has a 6" lift with 23" tires. Madjax stated I should see 25-26 mph on level ground after there controller and cable change.

If I was in that predicament again (hills) I would go for more HP with a 6hp speed and torque motor upgrade along with the 4 gauge cable upgrade.

I wouldn't need more torque for the hills?

Re: Suggestions for controller...
Horse Power can be loosely defined as Torque x RPM.
Some torque motors can only develop their torque at low RPMs, you need a motor that generates torque at a higher RPM. |

Re: Suggestions for controller...
You need more horsepower to climb those hills. Adding a 600 amp controller to a 3.3 hp stock motor is like adding a 4 barrel carburetor to a 4 cylinder engine.

What amp controller would you all suggest, and what kind of motor?

Re: Suggestions for controller...
I got my 550 amp Curtis controller from CTS Reman. No one could touch their price and they were incredibly helpful on the phone. I'd recommend at least giving them a call. I was certainly glad I did.
