Washing Diff Case
I have a 2004DS with a Graziano axle. I am putting high speed gears in it so I have the differential case split.
I am thing about putting the case in my dishwasher to clean the residual oil an dirt. Any thoughts on this? They are aluminum so I don't think it will hurt them or get hot enough to warp the case. |

Re: Washing Diff Case
I think I'd be more concerned about the effect of the residual oil & dirt on your dishwasher & plumbing system than on the differential case.

Re: Washing Diff Case
years ago I was working on a corvair, I had a cylinder in the kitchen sink washing it with hot water. My wife came home and hit the roof.
Use a steam cleaner, or pressure washer. |

Re: Washing Diff Case
I bought grill cleaner and degreaser from the dollar store called Awesome and that it was. I was cleaning the outside of my spare gas tank that had years of dry oil and grease on it and was having a hard time getting it off. I sprayed with this stuff, let it sit a few minutes and it wiped right off. Tank is a 1980 and looks like new. Give it a try !

Re: Washing Diff Case
Go nab a couple cans of Non-Chlorinated Brake Cleaner from your local auto parts or hardware store.... I keep that stuff around by the case here at work...

Re: Washing Diff Case
LOL I should comment that I like kerosene as well as mineral spirits or even charcoal lighter fluid for cleaning purposes too... I've got a couple of nickel plated guns that I will only clean with NCBC or mineral spirits so as to protect the underlying copper base plate....
