Unhappy Club Car Precedent Died After Downhill run

I just bought a 2008 club car precedent from a guy. I got it home and it worked great around the neighborhood. I went down a large hill with the gas wide open. Once i got to the bottom of the hill the car would not move. When i would press the gas in forward the car would move backwards 2 inches. When in reverse it won't move at all. Lights and buzzers all work. What have I done to my new cart?

It has new Trojan batteries and the motor was upgraded to run 25mph. Stock controller.

Thanks!!

Likely over spun the motor and ruined it.

We have a guy in town that repairs starters and electric motors. Is it something that can be repaired or will I need a whole new motor?

Thank you for the help.

Very hard to say from here...Take the motor to him and see what damage was done.

I doubt the motor would spin backwards if bad, probably controller on your solenoid the two big terminals there's a resistor is it really hot

I took the motor off. This doesn't look normal to me :(

Looks like it melted part of the armature.

Put your nose in it, does the motor smell burnt?

Yeah it has a faint smell of electrical burn.

I'm going to take it to the motor repair shop tomorrow. Its an old man that has done starters, alternators, and electrical motors for years. He rebuilds them usually better than factory, especially alternators. We used to take our tractor electrical motors to him. Hopefully he can repair the damage or rewind it.

If it is trashed, what would your advice be to put on my cart. I've read the 400 different threads on motors but everyone is all over the place. I'll use it on the streets in my neighborhood and occasionally go to the pond fishing. I'd like it to go around 25 with a little more torque than standard. Nothing too special. I may put a lift and bigger tires on it later on. Currently it just has the back flip down seat and stock tires.

Luckily it was a $20 fix. One of the copper wire bands was burned into. After repairing it, it's back to normal. No more downhill racing again.
