Hour Meter Question
I have installed a Curtis model 803 battery/hour meter in my 2007 Club Car Precedent. When I first installed it I did not connect the + hour wire up because I wanted to make sure I liked the install and I knew I would have other wiring to do later on my cart. Well that day has come and I am doing other wiring now on my cart and want to hook up the + hour wire. I want to hook it up so the hour meter only increase hours when cart is moving not when the key is on. What would be the best place to connect this wire so it only gets voltage when the cart moves? I believe voltage should not be an issue far as I understand. Just in case I have attached the installation PDF for the meter.
Small side note. I am very pleased with this has a battery meter. I decided to go with this has a battery meter for a few reasons. When I was reading about some of the lower priced battery meters a lot of the complaints were that they were not accurate in there battery levels. This battery meter is adjustable to the empty volts per cell of what batteries you are running in your cart. So I found the data sheet for my trojan batteries and set the gauge to the correct setting so that the battery meter is always reading correctly. If I decide to run different batteries in the future I can change the meter's setting to adjust for those empty volts per cells settings so it will read correctly for those batteries. Another reason I picked this gauge is because of quality. I see this same gauge on a lot of electric lifts and fork lifts so hopefully it will last a long time and never need replacing. If anybody if interested in where I got it let me know and I will post it in this thread. Thanks for the help as usual! |

Re: Hour Meter Question
The controller B+ would not be a good location due to the pre-charge resistor keeping that connection close to pack voltage at all times.
There are 2 choices depending how You want to count the hours, but it looks like You will want option #2. 1) Count the hours when the Key switch is ON: Pin 1: Disconnected 2) Count hours when the motor is moving (Motoring or Regenerating): Pin 1: Low side (negative) of solenoid coil (Blue/White wire). If You bought the model with the N.O. relay option (letter Y in the model number), You can wire an LED or light in series with Pins #3 and #4 so it will come on the dash when it reaches Your predefined "under load" low voltage setting. |

Re: Hour Meter Question
Thank you, Did not think of that ,...
Would the MCOR limit switch circuit work on pin 6? |

Re: Hour Meter Question
The MCOR limit switch would only provide +48v while the pedal is pressed.
Once engaged, the controller keeps the solenoid ON until after a few seconds with no pulses coming from the speed sensor (pedal up Regen brake). You would also get +48v at the pedal limit switch even if the cart was on Neutral and not moving. Probably not a whole lot of difference in practical terms for an "Hour Meter" depending how much Regen brake you use. |

Re: Hour Meter Question
Sergio,
Thank you for the "this is why" responses, I have been reading older posts and have learned a lot about these carts, I also have the parts on the way for the Passive Battery Bypass project for our two carts. Keith |

Re: Hour Meter Question
I found the blue/white wire on the solenoid coil and connected it. I have to finish up all my other wiring before I can power my cart back up. Once I do I will report back to confirming everything is working.
Thanks for the knowledge, I would have had no idea how to do this with out the help! |

Re: Hour Meter Question
Well I got all my wiring finished up last night and it works perfect! I drove my cart around for a while and added .2 hours on it. Thank you so much Sergio for your knowledge it is so helpful.
