Advice Needed on Disc Brakes

Long time reader, first time poster.... Great Site!

I recently purchased a 2007 Club Car Precedent that with a few changes I have rolling 25-27 mph. It has 14" wheels and a rear seat so there has been significant weight added for the stock brakes to be effective. I have read numerous posts on the site today that describe front or rear, mechanical or hydraulic, 2-wheel or 4-wheel disc brake options, but there really hasn't been anything definitive as to which would be best. I did see a gentleman from GA (Sunoco, I believe) that I guess built his own rear wheel, hydraulic set for his DS and planned to do some for Precedents, but there wasn't any additional info on whether he did or not.

Anyway, and advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

ScottyB has a manual disc brake setup that is a bolt on and uses the same cables as the drum brakes...I am going to order a set soon. Seems like the price is around $250 and installation should be just a bolt on.

Thanks for the info! I saw that ScottyB has the mechanical, rear wheel sets, but I wasn't sure if there was someone who had installed a four-wheel set. I don't really need a four-wheel set of brakes, but it seems kind of a cool idea.

In the meantime, if you get a set of these mechanical sets from ScottyB, let me know how they work out if you don't mind. I am definitely interested in a brake upgrade.

4 wheel disc brakes is a very cool idea. Not needed but, a cool idea. We used to offer 2 and 4 wheel wet disc brake kits. I stopped selling when tech support reach a disproportionate amount. Wet brakes systems are best left to the semi-professional mechanic types.
We are now enjoying 4 years of trouble free Ausco cable disc brake sales.

Thanks for the professional insight. I just checked out your site and I have a follow-up question. I have a 3" Jakes lift kit on my cart; would that require the cable extensions or are they just needed for the much more common 6" lift kits?

You won't need cable extension with a 3" lift.
