2007 CC Precedent died, faulty charger question
All,
My son recently had been using my cart and called the other night as the cart had lost all power. Suspecting it had not been charged I went and picked him up and towed (with the tow switch in the correct position) the cart home and placed on the charger. Immediately I noticed the breaker was tripped on the charger and did some troubleshooting and diagnosed what appears to have been a faulty rectifier. I placed a new rectifier in the charger and the cart immediately started to charge, which surprise me, as I figured maybe the cart batteries had depleted to a state where the automatic charger would not have commenced charging. My question is this, the cart has been on the charger now for about 10 hours and the charger has not cut off. Voltage displayed on the charger is still about 5 amps. Is this normal? Just seems to me that after 8-10 hours I would have expected the charger to have completed the charge. Thanks in advance for any insight, just a little concerned at this point. |

No need for concern, This is normal. It can take up to 16 hours to fully charge batteries if they have not been charged good for a while.

Re: 2007 CC Precedent died, faulty charger question
The display on the charger is an AMP gauge and it displays amps not voltage... With that being said if the batteries were heavily discharged it may full well take 16 or more hours to bring them back up to full charge again. Also make every effort to learn to keep the charger plugged into the cart ANYTIME it is not being used not just when the cart begins to struggle this will increase the life of the battery greatly....
