Default Cc, intermittent runs

Good afternoon, I have a 96 CC, with an updated from buggies unlimited a
series motor and alltrax controller and I have updated MCOR with latest model
from Revolution Dave. The cart has a mind of it's own. It will drive find for about 1/2 mile and then shuts down. If I wait a couple of minutes sometimes it
starts running again. Usually by the time I get it home it starts running again.
I just replaced the MCOR and there is still the same problem. When it happens the solenoid clicks but nothing. I have went into the controller with my laptop
and made sure all settings were O/K and disconnected HPD, still no luck.
This problem just started about 3 weeks ago. I have had the series kit installed
for 2 years. PLEASE someone help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well cowboy you didn't give us to much information so I'm going to ask a few questions. First how you driving when it quits. Is it a nice leisurely trip to the grocery store or are you out rounding up cattle?

What does that mean? How do you get it home?

In answer to the question, i was driving about 1/2 throttle when it shut off,
It felt like I had lifted my foot off pedal. I tried to turn key off and on and
pumped gas pedal to no avail. After about 5 min. of waiting it ran again for about 1 city block and stopped again. I left it there and when I returned about
1 hour later it was working so I drove it home, about 1 mile, at full throttle,
and I got it home without any problem. I pulled it into garage and put it on
jack stands where it didn't run and tried to diagnose it and it started to work
again. I keep on thinking it is an MCOR and I am going to Radio Shack today
to buy a potentiometer (5K-0) and try to wire the Alltrax controller with it by bypassing the resistance wires in the MCOR, the 3 wire connector, and see what happens.

You do know that you can check your MCOR in the Alltrax software. It will tell you what your throttle % is.
How long have you had the Alltrax Controller? Is it a new install?

Thanks for the info on the Alltrax controller. I did not know you could monitor
the mcor signal on the laptop. I will try that. The controller is the same one
I installed with the kit I purchased from Buggiesunlimited and installed 2 years
ago. It is a 500 amp. one. Thanks for the input on my problem.

I want to thank everyone that has responded to my problem. It turned out to be a controller problem. When it stopped running all I had to do was TAP the
bottom of controller by the connections and it will start running again. I contacted ALLTRAX but they claimed there is nothing that can be done to repair the problem other then replace. Their warranty is 2 years from date of
Manufacture. So I am out of luck and must replace controller to fix. What an
expensive fix for what seems like a easy fix. Loose wire or solder joint?

I had a similar problem. When I mounted my controller I put a lot of stress on the cable connections. This was causing an intermittent connection. Make sure your cables aren't to tight and pulling loose. Also try spraying the connections with electronic contact cleaner available at auto supply stores.
