some people put 48v to old resistor carts with no problems, or is it that a bad idea?
I have a 82 club car with the multiple solenoid setup. Other than a couple small problems it looks and runs pretty good.
I just did a little research on them, and see that some people put 48v to them and only change the charger. Is that a dumb idea, or does it work? The charger is having problems anyway. And I just put SAMs club batteries in it today. So I still have time to exchange them out. What would I gain? Extra speed and torque? Or will the extra voltage too many cause problems to be worth it? |

it will burn out eventually
you would need charger, plug, and batteries all that for maybe 5 mph more IMHO not worth it |

If you need a charger anyway I'd buy two more 6v batteries and a 48v charger for sure. Your resistors will be fine for a while, longer if you run wide open more than slow driving. You would either need a 48v solenoid or wire your activation circuit at the original 36v. This sets you up for a controller conversion down the road when you can afford it. IMO best upgrade you can do for the money..
