Default I have a monster... :-)

Hi, Everyone!

Well... I just had a thorough checking of my 2001 Club Car DS because it was having some mild problems that I couldn't figure out myself or even with the current mechanic I use. I took it to a place that has several mechanics on site for a pretty through checking, everything from battery load to the controller to the solenoid, etc. The problem in the end was the MCOR, but it took them some time to figure it out. But... I learned some new things about my cart that I never new before:

1. Somewhere along the line, my cart was converted to an IQ system (I already knew this). I've only had the cart for about 18 months.

2. They told me that I have a very "unique" cart and they have never seen anything like it before. In fact, the mechanics took a bunch of photos of the entire configuration of the cart because none of them have even heard of this before. Yes... It is a Club Car DS, but the entire "insides" have been set up basically like an EZGO TXT. Now, I'm not sure what they mean by that, but I'll be talking more to the guy later when he brings my cart back. They did say that it is really well setup and done, and that it's a good thing because it has a much better ride and performance than a standard Club Car DS. Again... They seemed to be pretty blown away when he was describing it to me.

3. Or it could be that they just haven't seen that many varieties of customized carts and have never come across this before.

4. The battery load tested "somewhat low" and he said that depending on how much I use the cart, etc., I probably only have about a year left on those batteries. They are Duracells and they came with the cart when I purchased it 18 months ago. I do know one thing... They drink water like crazy. I'm always checking the water on them (about every one or two weeks, depending on use heat, etc.)

Anyway... Just thought I'd share. Does anyone know what he may mean by "the inside setup like an EZGO TXT"? Hmmm...

Interesting. I'd like to know what they mean when they say it's setup like an EZGO TXT as well... The EZGO TXT won't run on an MCOR. Take some pictures of the battery compartment and the motor/controller when you get it back and share it with us. I'm sure there are others here who would love to see it as well. What part of Georgia are you in?

Hey, David! I'm in Griffin. I took the cart to Peachtree City to Big O's Golf Carts. I've been using Senoia Golf Carts for some of my service, but the guy there was sort of stumped and I was basically trying to self-diagnose my cart (not a good idea!) I'm going to ask Big O's to send their photos so you can see what they are talking about.

I sure wish you were closer to me. I'd be taking my carts to you. I'm still thinking about having you build something for me in the future. I haven't forgotten about that either. :-)

Was it Andy that you dealt with, he sold me a 1999 DS PD+ he traded in needing batteries (listed in the ad of course) They specialize in EZgo's and the TXT has a 48 Volt DC shunt wound, 3.0 hp , so that may be the set up like a TXT. I bought a set of Trojan 875's for the blue cart and worked the old set some and am using them until I get another set from BigO's for it.

I know Andy there, but it was his lead mechanic. His name is either "Kai" or "Tye". I can't recall. We bought my wife's cart from there about 18 months ago... an EZGO RXV they had customized (photo attached). I wanted to get the cart for a little less, but they gave us a great deal on a new set of Crown batteries when we bought it. We've had absolutely no problems out of that cart and it stays in the woods... and stays dirty at that!

Now... if I could only convince my wife that she needs to stop riding in the field that has all the Bradford pear trees! I can stop plugging those tires every time she picks up a huge thorn in them!

Sounds good. Thanks. I'd love to do business with you. Trying to sell a Yamaha now if you know anybody interested. There are pictures on our facebook page.

I didn't have a chance to take pics today (wound up working on the property by the creek... It was one BE-AUTIFIL day!), but here is a pic one of the mechanics texted me that he took. He said that everything with the controller, solenoid, motor, all the wiring, etc. is set up like an EZGO TXT. He said that it looked really good and that it was professionally done. Of course, this photo means almost nothing to me because it is my first cart and I don't have almost any experience with other carts, but maybe someone else will find it interesting.

I'll try to take a few photos tomorrow and post more.

Looks like the Curtis 1268 conversion from FSIP. We've sold a lot of those. Good stuff. Not sure how that's anything like an ezgo though.

That controller is fairly new... only a few months old. Upgraded to a 500 amp controller w/solenoid. Gave it more low-end torque, which I need on the property and in the woods.

I kind of bought mine because of getting her cart dirty and something about chainsaws and tools on it. we are on the Henry Spalding line, about fifty acres and the carts sure do help out.
