DPI Charger Users
I would like to request a favor from the people that use DPI chargers. I would like for somebody to check what voltage they have when the charger switches to the top off mode. ie the amber charging light is on and the green charged light is on and the current meter drops to 2 amps. The reason I ask is that I think my voltage might be going to high. As soon as it switches over the voltage slowly rises to 65v which I think is to high. Thank you in advance.

Re: DPI Charger Users
I'm not home to take a closer look but I've seen mine take the voltage up to 65.0 before dropping down to the float mode and hold at 53.0 volts...

Re: DPI Charger Users
I just saw this on the DPI site
The instructions printed on the charger are for daily reference. Chargers may be factory preset to Mode-2, but the MODE can be changed to suit different battery types by rearranging the Jumpers found under the Cover Plate located on the front of the charger, per the diagram found on the inside of the Mode Select Cover Plate, accessible by removing its 2 screws. Also, this diagram is reprinted below. Each Mode (‘color key’) is set to charge a particular Battery Type: Mode ‘1’ or Black: Use for Flooded US Battery batteries Mode ‘2’ or Brown: Use for Flooded Trojan batteries Mode ‘3’ or Red: Use for Flooded Exide Batteries Mode ‘4’ or Orange: Use for Crown / AGM Batteries Might see if it is set for your battery brand, http://www.dpipower.com/store/MNUL/General_Chargers.pdf looking at this manual , so might not apply ,... Wonder if the control PCB could be used in a Lester charger |

Re: DPI Charger Users
Hope I don't get this wrong but it is my understanding that when in the equalize mode where you will see the highest voltage that this higher (65) voltage is not at all harmful to the batteries as having the amperage they are receiving too high. This is what would cause boiling off of water and/or bulging of cases etc.
My batteries are Crown CR-165 which is closest to a Trojan DC-8V or T-875 so I've left my charger in Mode-2 and in over a year I'm impressed that I've yet to need to add water and my batteries still show closest to 100 % SOC even after a 2 mile hilly useage. They have been charged via a DPI 24/7 since Oct of last year..... |

Re: DPI Charger Users
The Trojan site says set to 62 volts , so 65 volts is within +5%
Voltage Settings 48V Daily Charge 59.2 Float 52.8 Equalize 62 http://www.trojanbattery.com/tech-su...y-maintenance/ |

Re: DPI Charger Users
Thanks guys, I checked with DPI and everything agrees with what you said. I just wanted a second opinion.
