Default Please Help me decide if I should buy or walk away

Ok I found a 2014 club car precedent
Seller told me it came from a older guy that hooked up the batteries backwards and fried the computer.
He says he has brand new Trojan batteries he will include with the cart.
He's telling me all I need is a new computer 150-300 online.
It has a new lift kit and tires
Cart looks brand new.
I don't know anything about electric carts as my current cart is a Yamaha gas.
My question is what would hooking up the batteries backwards do?
How do I check computer/controller and the motor
I can get for 2000
Is it worth the gamble or should I walk away?
Any quick help would be appreciated
Thanks

2014 with lift kit, tires and new batteries for 2K... I'd buy it if I were you... Could be as simple as a blown fuse at worst a blown computer which can be bypassed. Even at the worst a used controller and/or motor would be fairly low cost...

it makes me wonder why it is so cheap..... is it stolen because its worth double that . there is a thread on here about a guy who lost his cart when the cops came to claim it

I would jump on the deal.
At worst, you would need a new controller. The 2014 CC does not have an OBC (on board computer).
If it were mine, I would buy a IQ harness and a 1268 Curtis controller and convert to IQ. That is what I did with my 2014 CC and I sure like the results.

By 'computer' he probably means the controller. I would buy it, it's a good deal at that price, even with the issue...

If it turns out to be an Excel cart with a fried controller I've got one I'd gladly sell for cheap.... Got a motor too...

Ok I can get the serial number what will that tell me?
I also have police connections to look into the question of it being stolen I guess if the serial number is reported.
I agree it sounds too good to be true.
That's why I'm asking the pros. I don't want to buy a can of worms.
I'm going to go look at it on Saturday. Is there any way to check the motor ?
Obviously if it smells burnt I will try to get it cheaper but is there anything else I need to look for?
Thanks again
Ken
