Club car buring micro switches

I have a 94 Club car electric that stopped working the other day. I first thought it was a solenoid so I put a new one on and wired it how the old one was wired. Still did not move. I was not getting any "click" at the solenoid so I traced it down to the micro switch in the v glide. got some of them on order and put one in. pushed on the gas pedal and it blew the front micro switch on the f/r switch. so I replaced that one and turned the key on and it blew the one in the v glide without even pressing on the pedal. took the micro switches off and apart and they are completely blown apart inside. I am at a loss and just trying to figure out the problem before I keep on going through all my micro switches. Thank you for the help.

It's probably a bad diode that goes on the main solenoid...that protects the micro switches from the collapsing electrical field from the solenoid.

Ok cool. I got a new diode for it but have not put it on yet. seeing if that might be a good place to start before I burn more micro switches up.

Nathan, do yourself a favor and put in an in-line fuse (10 amp) in the green wire at sol. large post or the blue wire coming out of the V-glide. The Curtis wiring diagram calls for it but I don't know why Club Car left it out.

Remove the diode until you get the cart working, you probably have it wired backwards.

The kind of condition it takes to short a diode (PN junction punch-through), high voltage and low current, does not occur easily on a golf cart.

Make sure you are using the Normally Open contacts of the new micro switch if it has 3 terminals.

Once you get the solenoid working, measure the voltage of the small posts with your voltmeter and notice which post has the positive voltage. The stripped end of the diode goes on the positive post.
